This is NOT the answer to the question you listed. Your clickbait title is "How to sort emails by unread then date in Outlook?" but your "answers" are how to use search and filter. Not an answer.

well, we can achieve this feature in office 365 which displays unread conversations based on same subject as a group at the top and we can further optimize that with creating rules.

uhmmm... what? I think what most are talking about here is the simplicity of having unread in a section at the top (by date) then all other e-mail, at the same time, just below that, also by date. Simple feature Gmail has had for years.

Ya, I can't believe (well actually I can) that Microsoft hasn't figured this out. INCREDIBLY useful feature that should be a no-brainer.
Useless. This is not what the guy asked. He asked to have the inbox automatically and always show the unread emails at the top, sorted by date, and the read emails in the inbox below those, also sorted by date. Not to have to search for unread emails that he can sort by date, or to only filter unread emails that he can sort by date. This is a very useful request, as I find it works amazingly well in GMail. Outlook does not seem to have the ability to perform this function, though it would have been the most used setting in any outlook mailbox on the planet.By Jaco Liebenberg
I agree. This is what outlook users want to be able to do.

YES!! All the other email programs seem to be able to do this. Does anyone know of a work around for Outlook?
