I have a folder in the Outlook 2016 that I can not delete. Microsoft tried creating a new profile but this didnt work and they said that the folder must be in my webmail and that is why it is showing here ... it isnt. I have been onto my email provider and they have done a search for the folder in my webmail and they can't find it either. Anyone else had this problem? and can you tell me how to resolve it?

I sent you this comment yesterday, but only now I see the Notify me of follow up comments. I would really like to get my folder back!. In the meantime, let me wish you all the best for the holiday season: by using a bad mouse, I seem to have dumped a file folder from Outlook inadvertently elsewhere - I can't find it (and when I do a search on mail items that I know are there, I can't find them). I would really appreciate your help in finding it and restoring to my Outlook. (Outlook 2013, Windows 10). thank you in advance for your help. Neal

This is great - now can you provide how to have it default? It always reverts back to the awful plain view (who would ever want that anyway?). A registry setting perhaps?

Hi,

Make sure anyone mail folder will be opened by default when Outlook starting.
You can configure as: File > Options > Advanced > Outlook start and exit > Start Outlook in this folder: Inbox or other mail folders.

Under this condition, Outlook will remember to open the view (mail view or folder list view) you used last time.

Did you ever find out how to make the folder list view the default setting in Outlook 2016 instead of the plain view?

I dragged the Folder View to the beginning of the list, and the Outlook opens that view for me automatically.

Hi CCalifornia,

I have updated this article and added method about moving the Folder List View icon to the beginning/top of Navigation Pane. Hope it can help you.
